Dual-band [915/2400 MHz] receiver COM-3001 -> High speed data acquisition COM-8002 -> LAN 10baseT Interface COM-5001 The baseline configuration in the 3001_8002_5001.stn settings file is as follows: 915 MHz center frequency 100 KHz synthesizer frequency step. External 10 MHz frequency reference. -52 dBm input level threshold for full scale 10-bit A/D conversion. External PLL-STROBE frequency hopping signal disabled. The assembly IP address is 172.16.1.128 with a network mask of 255.255.255.0. The host computer network address should be consistent with the network address above. To change the assembly IP address, change registers REG0/1/2/3 in COM-5001 using the comblock control center. Please make sure the IP address is unique. After changing any IP address, recycle power. Purpose: Receive a low-level offset RF (915.5 MHz) signal, translate its frequency to baseband (500KHz offset), collect I & Q baseband samples at 40 Msamples/s, 2*10-bit precision. Store the samples into a file and save it on the host computer. (a) Import the configuration file 3001_8002_5001.stn using the ComBlock Control Center File|Import menu. Turn the assembly power off then on again. (b) If the IP address 172.16.1.128 cannot be used, change registers REG0/1/2/3 in COM-5001 using the comblock control center. Please make sure the IP address is unique. After changing any IP address, recycle power. (c) Connect an external 10 MHz frequency reference (generally available from a spectrum analyzer or RF signal generator) to the COM-3001 10 MHz input port (labeled EXT FREQ REF). (c) Connect a LAN cable between the COM-5001 RJ-45 connector and a LAN Hub, using a straight cable. The LED close to the RJ-45 connector should be ON. (d) Open the logic analyzer window from the ComBlock Control Center Functions | Logic Analyzer. Press apply to collect 100,000 bytes worth of complex samples. Note: 2.5 bytes are used for each 2*10-bit complex sample. Upon successful completion, a window will popup. (e) Download the collected samples from DRAM to host computer: - select a download file name - select the 'Start Download' action. - press the 'Apply' key. Upon successful completion, a window will popup. (f) To unpack the binary file and plot the resulting I and Q samples, - get the unpacker.exe program from the ComBlock CD (Matlab_C code\com8002util_002.zip) or from the comblock web site http://www.comblock.com/download/com8002util_002.zip - the unpacker program generates an output file named outputFile.txt (2 columns, unsigned). It is sometimes easier to locate the unpacker.exe program in the same directory as in the capture file. - plot the outputFile.txt (using Matlab 'load' command or MS Excel 'import' command. The plots should show two 90 deg offset sinewaves.
